The church will not just stick to the pulpit and watch from a distance but will comment on governance and engage with both county and national governments to address matters of the soul, body and the spirit, His Eminence Arch Bishop Jackson Ole Sapit, head of The Anglican Church in Kenya has said.
Speaking earlier today when he made a courtesy call on His Excellency Cornel Rasanga Amoth, Siaya Governor, the top cleric emphasized the place of wholesome governance and administration of the church and government to address the varied needs of the society.
His Excellency Cornel Rasanga while welcoming His Eminence The Arch Bishop emphasized the central place of the church in governance and shared key areas of envisioned partnership with the church as a County, particularly on public participation.
The Governor noted that Faith Based Organizations are key centres of public participation and must form centres of debate for improved policy and implementation of Government programs.
The Arch Bishop who is in a pastoral visit in Western Kenya and particularly Maseno Diocese of the Anglican Church of Kenya noted that Siaya County has improved road network and linkages to towns compared to the last time he visited Siaya not long ago.
According to the Arch Bishop, the church’s contribution to a more wholesome nation has incuded pastoral care, evangelism, health, worship, education, ecology, governance all of which must be aided by strong governments.
The good Arch Bishop who spoke briefly from the book of Genesis 41:31 on measuring what counts was accompanied by The Bishop of The Diocese of Maseno West His Grace Dr. Joseph Otieno Wasonga among several other members of the clergy.
