Siaya Deputy Governor Dr. James Okumbe has asked politicians engaged in 2022 politics to hold their horses and allow Kenyans to rebuild lives through development projects in the mean time.
Dr. Okumbe says it is not logical for Kenyans to continue politicking at the detriment of development. While Speaking in Gem constituency over the weekend, the deputy governor said previous polls destroyed lives, property and businesses that must be rebuilt, strengthened and stabilised and the ongoing politics of 2022 will jeopardise it.
“Many people are trying to revive their businesses which were crippled by the pre and post-election tension and do not want to hear about the next general elections that are four years away,” Okumbe argued.
The DG asked the local leadership and poll losers to embrace the “handshake” between the President and the former Prime Minister to restore peace and enhance unity for economic development of the region.
According to the Deputy Governor, it is paramount for all leaders to work closely and develop the economy of the region and The Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta’s peace deal has engendered the best environment for doing businesses.
He also hailed the Jubilee administration for its tough action on graft whose proceeds in foreign banks are ready to be repatriated to local financial institutions.
