His Excellency Cornel Rasanga, Siaya Governor, has today launched Ksh.11.6 Million dispensary and two water projects in North Sakwa ward, Bondo Sub-County.
The water projects initiated at Bugni and Abom areas are estimated at values of KSh.2.9 million and Ksh.4.9 million respectively while Manyonge dispensary project was financed by 2013/14 budgets but completed in 2016.
The County Chief who was accompanied by Water Executive Eng. Adrian Ouma, Finance Executive Hon. Richard Mungla, Health Executive Hon. Dorothy Owino, Agriculture Executive Hon. Charles Ogada, North Sakwa Member of County Assembly Hon. Lorna Achieng Adida and Nominated MCA Hon. Taabu Osewe asked the locals to embrace and make use of the visible projects initiated to transform lives.
The Governor while speaking at Abom center and Manyonge dispensary said the big water project at Abom market involves an extension pipeline of 4,800 meters and water tanks that will enable more than 2,400 residents to access clean drinking water.
Rasanga said that Bugni water project will support more than 1,500 residents who have been facing difficulties accessing water.
“My agenda is to end water shortages by providing water to markets and schools as well,” said Rasanga adding that diseases of dysentery and cholera will be no more.
He directed the area MCA to work closely with the water executive and put a budget to see the water project extended to Nyadenge and Gero markets. His Excellency at the same time advised the health management and those in charge of health facilities to create platforms where they can notify the locals on the availability of drugs and other services in the health centers.
Eng. Ouma asked locals near the sewer system to pay only Ksh. 500 to get connected to the system. This was backed by SIBOWASCO managing director Mr. George Alaka who said that the county government has allocated 300 million shillings to enhance the sewer connection from 1 percent to 15 percent.
