Madiba Youth Organisation to participate in the Global Goals World Cup Tournament

The Madiba Women Football Squad will be leaving Bushbuckridge on 12 October 2018 to participate on a world cup tournament for women supporting the United Nations 17 Global Goals dubbed ‘Global Goals World Cup (GGWCup)’, will be held in Gauteng, South Africa on 13th October 2018.
The Global Goals World Cup is the initiative of Danish Non Profit sports organisation Eir Soccer. It is a global women’s amateur football championship for the UN SDG’s (Global Goals). Eir soccer works locally with strong partners across different sectors to combine global scale with strong local impact.
The Global Goals World Cup South Africa is hosted by Save the Children in association with the Royal Danish Embassy and the Embassy of Ireland. The Royal Danish Embassy, , Save the Children, UNDP and Eir-Soccer; partners in this tournament will assemble 24 teams of passionate women to experience the sheer joy of playing soccer and the meaningfulness of taking a stand for the world they want.
The Madiba Youth Organisation under Madiba Women Football Club is enthralled to be facet of the Global Goals World Cup. The 17 global goals, including their recognition of gender equality, are fundamental for our international engagement. It is indeed worth playing for. In South Africa, the Madiba Youth Organisation for many years has supported women empowerment, women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights – and it is still a very important focus.
