Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi in partnership with the Hindu Council of Kenya have distributed foods items to ten children homes, juvenile facilities as well as care homes for the elderly in view of the ongoing cessation amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
The care homes take care of children from poor families, orphans and the aged from various areas across Westlands. Meanwhile, Rehabilitations are juvenile detention centres that houses kids up to the age of 18 who have committed offenses against the law.
Speaking during the event, Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi said, “What we are doing here today, is feeding the multitude and it will give people hope in the midst of the uncertainity brought about by COVID-19. I want to encourage others who can come out and support our vulnerable brothers and sisters in various homes.”
Hindu Council Chairman Kamal Gupta said that,” Helping the vulnerable is something we took up especially during this trying COVID-19 times.We are keen to follow government directives and collaborate with leaders such as the MP to reach the right beneficiaries.”
The homes that benefited include House of Hope, Mji wa Huruma, Shangilia Watoto Kibagare, Nairobi Remand, House of Charity, Nairobi Rescue Center, Ananda Marga, Gitathuru Rehab school and Kabete rehabilitation centre.
