WOMEN ARE KEY IN DEVELOPMENT AGENDA

Yesterday, Siaya Woman Rep Hon Dr Christine Ombaka and fellow women leaders from across the country including County Secretaries, Governors, Senators, Women members of parliament, met at the Intercontinetal hotel to discuss strategies of including women in elective and appointive positions. Through their newly established movement ‘Embrace’, the women said if the 2/3 gender rule cannot be passed into law, women will simply go for it.

Supporting the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) established on 9th, March 2018 by His Excellency the President Hon Uhuru Kenyatta and the former Prime Minister, Hon Raila Odinga, the women agreed to work together as a team to address antagonism, and insecurity issues that are experienced every election year. The Guest of honour was Mama Ida Odinga.

Other women present were CS Gender and Youth Affairs Prof Margaret Kobia, Governors Charity Ngilu, Anne Waiguru, Joyce Laboso as well as Women Parliamentarians.
